THE CAMPSITE

Home/Pyrene/Campsite

The Sustainable Pyrene Campsite is located at the base of the Lles Cross Country Ski Resort. It’s found in the pleasant Cap del Rec plain, 1.956 m. above sea level. The camp is surrounded by mountain pine forest and deep blue lakes, with 3.000 m. high mountain peaks touching the clouds. The base lies at the foot of the Tossa Plana de Lles massif, with marvellous views of El Cadí, La Tossa d’Alp, El Puigmal and the Cerdanya Valley.

The camp is 30 minutes (17 km) away from Martinet de Cerdanya by car and can be reached from Lles de Cerdanya via a well maintained paved road. Although easily accessible, the base camp is in a wild and unspoilt corner of the Cerdanya Valley. All 8 camps are located at the campsite. It’s a place where you can meet up with friends, share experiences and take on fun challenges.

The L’Illa Refuge

The Illa Refuge, located at the head of the Llosa Valley in the Alt Pirineu Natural Park, is the highest staffed mountain hut in Andorra. Surrounded by peaks and glacial lakes, it offers lodging, mountain cuisine, and serves as the starting point for numerous high-mountain routes. The Montmalús Refuge

The Montmalús Refuge is an unmanned mountain hut set in a privileged location beside the lake and the peak of the same name. It’s the perfect starting point for high-mountain routes and a cozy spot to enjoy the Pyrenean nature and rest after a long hike — just like the TRAVESSA 7x7 participants, who, after a good day’s walk, cook themselves a warm soup and a potato omelet.

Estanys de La Pera

Set of two lakes of glacial origin, located at 2,347 meters above sea level, almost at the top of the Monturull and Perafita mountains. One-day bicycle excursion for BOLD and AVENTURA JR groups.

Molí del Salt

A 17th-century mill surrounded by dramatic vertical cliffs, featuring a stunning waterfall and a natural pool perfect for swimming. ALL Pyrene camps stop here for a refreshing dip.

Anes Cave

Refuge located in Bellver de Cerdanya, within the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park. It is the starting point for magnificent hiking routes and to explore the impressive landscapes of the Pyrenees. We sleep there with the BIKE CAMP group before starting one of the most spectacular descents of Cerdanya.

La Vansa Canyon

A very aquatic canyon, with crystal-clear water and several optional jumps, perfect for BOLD and WILD groups to get started in the world of canyoning. It’s a fun and refreshing route, following the turquoise waters of the La Vansa river through pools carved between limestone walls and oak trees growing improbably among the rocks. A perfect activity to enjoy the water in a safe and controlled environment.

La Seu d'Urgell

La Seu d’Urgell is a town of 13,000 inhabitants, capital of the Alt Urgell region, located in the heart of the Pyrenees, right where the Valira River meets the Segre River. It is known for hosting the magnificent Romanesque Cathedral of Santa Maria, a jewel of Catalan heritage. On Fridays, after the ravine, the WILD and BOLD groups enjoy an ice cream in the center.

Lles de Cerdanya

Lles de Cerdanya, in the heart of the Pyrenees, is a welcoming village surrounded by meadows and forests, with views of the Cadí and Moixeró ranges. Known for its cross-country ski trails and mountain paths, it’s an ideal place to enjoy nature and tranquility. It’s the closest village to our base camp: the WILD and BIKE groups pass through on their bikes, while the other camps help out with community services, lending a hand to the locals.

Martinet

It’s a village located on the banks of the Segre River, it marks the starting point of the road leading up to Cap de Rec and the Pyrene base camp.

Bellver de Cerdanya

It’s a walled village with a medieval old town, vibrant cultural life, and a strong farming and livestock tradition. SUSTAINABILITY

THE CAMP RELEASES 0 EMISSIONS, 0 WASTE AND IS RESPECTFUL OF THE ENVIRONMENT.

After being 4 years in Guils Fontanera, and 4 years in Aransa this Summer our basecamp will be located in Cap del Rec (Lles de Cerdanya county). A new location means new routes, new peaks, new challenges! Cap del Rec is a great place for a base camp: a stream, the woods, the Estanys de la Pera, Orri Lake and Tossa Plana de Lles, Muga Peak, Setut Peak, and with stunning views of the Cadí Mountains and the Cerdanya Valley.

ACCOMMODATION & RESOURCES

We are settled at the Wooden Shelter of Cap del Rec: our facilities include a dining area for when it’s rainy or cold, a kitchen, storage areas and toilets.

We have breakfast, lunch and dinner outside if the weather permits. Next to the Wooden Shelter we have tables and benches protected from the sun with a gazebo. The gazebo also has lights for nighttime seating. Twenty metres away we have four 25 person tents where we sleep in bunk beds. Clothes are stored in individual boxes, while suitcases, bikes, helmets and saddles are stored in the storage areas. The tents are illuminated with solar energy. Also solar powered are our 6 hot water showers. It’s incredible to have a shower in the middle of the woods! The campsite is protected from cows, horses and deer by a wooden fence.

WE KNOW WHAT WE EAT

Our kitchen team prepares meals considering the high energy demand of the activities that take place at the camp. Since we are an active part in the healthy habits of young people, and the amount of milk, bread, juice, and pasta we buy for 6 weeks of camps is huge, we have a positive impact wherever we go shopping.

We want to know the origin of the products we eat in the Pyrene Summer Camp, which is why we rely on family, proximity, and quality companies. This bet means an increase in the budget we allocate to food. But if we consider it important at home, why not when we go to summer camps?

We have been making changes to the menu for the last 15 summers. In the last 2 years, we’ve stopped serving fish: it was frozen and clearly, we didn’t catch it in the Segre River. Instead, our valley is recognized for its beef. We make sure that the meat we eat, being raised in our mountains, is of the highest quality. We have also increased the intake of plant protein through pulses, soybeans, tofu, nuts, and cereals such as oats and quinoa.

We avoid foods that are harmful to our health, such as those that are highly processed. We are determined to put healthy food on the table. In between the Wild Adventures’ running late to dinner, the rice is overcooked, soft overcooked rice but still of the best quality!
